Removing Distractions in an Image
Presented by Dave Cook
Navy Brat (my first dozen years). Air Force Vet (3 years, 8 months and 23 days). Retired Teacher (35 years). Enjoyed art, drawing, watercolor, stained glass. Movie Buff (all my life). Husband and Father. I am in my third hemicentury.
I have enjoyed taking photos most of my life, but got serious when I retired. For me, photography is the perfect combination of Art and Tech with something new to learn everyday.
Replacing Backgrounds in Photoshop
Presented by Kim Cuc Tran
Kim was born and raised in Vietnam, escaped the communist by boat to Malaysia in 1980, and immigrated to the US in 1981. She graduated from Cal State University of Long Beach with a BS in Chemical Engineering in 1986. Her engineering career led her to Oregon in 2001. She and her husband retired and moved to Newport, Oregon in 2009.
Photography has been a hobby and interest in her life. Her photography skill flourished as she started taking photography classes with the Vietnamese Artistic Photographic Association in 1993. Kim advanced further as she studied for 5 years at Tri-Community Photography School in Covina, California. The process of capturing an image is fulfilling and enjoyable to her. She and her husband both enjoy going out looking for inspiring shots. They have been traveling for photography to many locations in the US and to many other countries.
She enjoys shooting abstracts, close-ups, birds and flowers; and then creates artistic photos to share with the viewers. Her mantra for photography is “Simplify, simplify, simplify”. This mantra has served her well in the process of capturing and creating inspiring images.
She has received numerous awards in photography competitions.
How I Process Ocean Spray
Presented by Greg Henton
I was an archeologist and laboratory technician who worked in California and Nevada before retiring to Newport, Oregon about 10 years ago. I originally got involved with photography when documenting artifacts and archeological features in the 1970s, but mostly on a technical level. I took up more artistic photography shortly before retiring both as an intellectual challenge and a form of expression.
