For our Monday, August 28 meeting, we will share our images from our Photo Scavenger Hunt.

Monday, August 28, 2023

Meeting start time: 7pm (Zoom conferencing line opens approximately 15 minutes before start time)

To join the meeting, click this link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/74909264555

To complete the hunt,  please submit only one image for each hunt item. While you do not have to submit an image for all four scavenger hunt items, I encourage you to do so in the spirit of learning and photographic adventure. Even if you have several images of one hunt item, please submit only one image per item; another part of the process of photography is choosing your most compelling image.

Your scavenger hunt items are:

Abstract

Look for patterns, textures, details or shapes that attract your eye and make them become “art”.

Shallow Depth of Field

Experiment with using large apertures to isolate your subject.

Capturing Motion

Freeze it, blur it, give it energy. Make motion the subject.

A Camera Feature that You Haven’t Used

Many newer cameras come with “art”  or “creative filter” modes, but even if you are shooting with an older DSLR, you have access to features like multiple-exposure, HDR, bracketing, night mode or sports mode. Or, if you have always shot in program or auto mode, see what happens when you try manual mode for full control over your image capture. Explore the options in your camera’s menu and play with something new.

Submit your images using our usual file sizing and a modified naming convention:

File Naming

FirstnameLastname_Title_A (for your Abstract image)

FirstnameLastname_Title_SD (for your Shallow Depth of Field image)

FirstnameLastname_Title_M (for your Motion image)

FirstnameLastname_Title_CF (for your Camera Feature image)

File Size

All of the following size requirements must be met:

  • Horizontal dimension maximum: 1400 pixels*
  • Vertical dimension maximum: 1050 pixels*
  • File size maximum: 2 Mb

* including any borders and key lines.

Send to yaapeid@gmail.com  by end of day Saturday, August 26.
